Watering
Water every 1014 days during spring and summer, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings.
In winter, reduce to once every 34 weeks.
Extremely drought-tolerant, overwatering is the main danger.

Sunlight
Thrives in full sun to very bright light.
In Malta, perfect for sunny terraces, balconies, gardens, and bright indoor areas.
Tolerates partial shade but grows best in strong sun.

Foliage / Flowering
Leafless most of the time; decorative appeal comes from its tall, ribbed, branching green stems.
Can reach 46 m outdoors and 23 m in large containers.
Produces small, yellowish flowers at the tips in warm seasons (not ornamental).

Potting Mix
Use a very fast-draining cactus/succulent mix with added sand or pumice.
Pots must have excellent drainage to prevent rot.

Fertilizer
Feed once a month in spring and summer with a diluted cactus fertilizer.
Do not fertilize in winter.

Pet Safety
Highly toxic to cats, dogs, and humans if ingested.
Milky sap is extremely irritating to skin and eyes always handle with gloves.
Keep well out of reach of pets and children.
