Broccoli Blue Wind Hybrid (49 Days)

49 DAYS
Brassica oleracea

Sure to blow you away, this extra-early maturing broccoli produces impressively large, tightly beaded heads. The handsome, uniform plants sport uniquely coloured, powdery light blue foliage, reaching a mature height of 18 to 24 in. which stretches above the strong-stemmed, densely packed heads. Good side shoot production will supply a continued harvest of delicious florets, making it an excellent choice for home gardeners interested in fresh produce.

Size: Mature plants reach about 18 to 24 in. tall with large, tightly beaded heads.

Yield: Typically produces a good yield of florets, with additional side shoots for a prolonged harvest season.

Taste: Fresh, mild flavour that is perfect for steaming or incorporating into a variety of dishes.

How to use: Ideal for steaming, stir-frying, or adding fresh to salads. Can be enjoyed harvested young or allowed to mature for larger heads.

Planting tips: Seed outdoors as soon as weather and soil conditions permit, covering lightly with soil. Ideal in average garden soil and a sunny location for optimal growth. Thin seedlings to 1 ft. apart once they reach 3 in. high. Germinates best at 21C in 7 to 10 days.

Harvest tips: Harvest when heads are firm and tight, cutting the stem just below the crown. Frequent picking encourages more side shoots to develop.
