Dahlia Pompon Nescio’ (x1)

Add a touch of dramatic elegance to your summer displays with Dahlia Nescio. A staple for any dahlia lover, this variety produces perfectly formed, spherical blooms in a deep, velvety crimson red. The petals are neatly cupped and arranged in a mesmerizing honeycomb pattern, making each flower look like a small, meticulously crafted work of art.

Key Features for Malta:

Vibrant Jewel Tone: The intense red color remains rich and deep even under the bright Maltese sun, providing a stunning contrast against green foliage.

Uniform Symmetry: As a true Pompon dahlia, it produces compact, globe-shaped flowers (approx. 5-7cm) that are famous for their structural beauty.

Versatile Growth: Its upright and sturdy habit makes it suitable for both garden borders and large patio containers.

Exceptional Cut Flower: The strong stems and long vase life make Nescio a top choice for creating professional-looking floral arrangements at home.

Expert Tips for Growing Nescio in Malta: To maintain those deep red spheres:

Sunlight: Thrives in full sun. To keep the red from scorching in the extreme heat of a Maltese August, a spot with slightly filtered light during the hottest part of the afternoon is ideal.

Watering: Like all dahlias, Nescio is thirsty. Water regularly at the base of the plant to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.

Encourage Branching: Pinching out the center tip when the plant reaches 20cm will encourage a bushier habit and a much higher volume of flowers.

Wind Protection: Because it grows to a medium height (approx. 90cm), it is best placed in a spot protected from the strong Majjistral winds common in Malta.

Deadheading: Remove faded blooms promptly to ensure the plant continues to produce new buds well into the autumn.

Color: Deep Crimson / Velvety Red.

Bloom Time: July October.

Height: 80 90 cm.

Season: Summer Bloomer.
