Raphanus sativus

These cherry red Radishes are large and round, delivering a crisp, sweet bite that makes them a garden favourite. Fast-growing and easy to cultivate, the Radish Champion variety thrives in cooler weather, developing a mild flavour that is perfect for salads or garnishes. Ideal for succession planting, these radishes can be enjoyed fresh throughout the season.

Size: Mature radishes reach up to 2 in. in diameter, with lush green foliage above.

Yield: Each plant produces one large radish per seed sown, with continuous sowing providing a harvest every couple of weeks.

Taste: Sweet and crisp with a gentle heat that enhances salad dishes and fresh plates.

How to use: Great for fresh eating, can be sliced, diced, or added whole to salads and sandwiches for a pop of colour and crunch.

Planting tips: Sow seeds 1 cm (1/2 in) deep and 1 cm (1/2 in) apart, in rows 45 cm (18 in) apart, in well-drained, lighter soils. Best planted in cool conditions, ideally in early spring, with sowing continued every week for a prolonged harvest.

Harvest tips: Radishes are ready to harvest when they reach around 2 in. in diameter. Pull them from the ground before they become too large to ensure the best flavour and texture.
